Initial direct track (direct track on a gentle slope with natural stop). Introduction to using ski lifts. Snowplough turns.
I can use the ski lifts on my own. I can make a direct track down the slope and stop using the snowplough technique. I can put on and take off my skis on my own. I can make serpentine snowplough turns.
Class: Beginners
Terrain: Green runs, blue runs
Basic turn. Basic direct track (facing the slope with a slight change in gradient). Direct track when traversing. Controlled stair-step ascent.
I am progressing on a course marked out with basic turns. I can slide downhill at speed. I can cross the slope with my skis parallel at speed.
Class: Beginners
Terrain: Blue run
Basic turn. Basic direct track (facing the slope and traversing with a marked break in the slope). Basic rounded skid (skid directional effect). Basic skater's step (on flat ground).
I can link turns with my skis parallel. I can navigate bumps and hollows with good balance. I finish my turns with a rounded skid.
Class: Class 2
Terrain: Blue and Red runs
Advanced turns (with directional skidding effect). Skidding with brakes. Downhill turns (on gentle to moderate slopes).
I can link together short and medium radius parallel turns (snowplough technique). I can stop by skidding wherever I want. I can pick up speed by schussing.
Class: Class 3
Terrain: Red run
Advanced turn (with directional cut effect). Basic jump (with slight lift-off). Advanced rounded skid (with cut concept).
I perform advanced turns in a non-timed slalom. I have mastered the advanced snowplough turn. I am learning how to turn in all snow conditions.
Class: Class 3
Terrain: Red and black runs
